چکیده
A point source interferometer (PSI) is a device where atoms are split and recombined by applying temporal sequence of Raman pulses during the expansion cloud cold behaving approximately as source. The PSI can work sensitive multi-axes gyroscope that automatically filter out signal from accelerations. phase shift arising rotations proportional to momentum transferred each atom pulses. Therefore, increasing transfer, it should be possible enhance sensitivity PSI. Here, we investigate degree enhancement in could achieved augmenting with large transfer (LMT) employing many alternating directions. We analyze how factors such Doppler detuning, spontaneous emission, finite initial size atomic compromise advantage LMT find optimal under these limitations, both semi-classical model which motion center mass described quantum mechanically. identify set realistic parameters for improve factor nearly 40.

Multiaxis inertial sensing with long-time point source atom interferometry.
We show that light-pulse atom interferometry with atomic point sources and spatially resolved detection enables multiaxis (two rotation, one acceleration) precision inertial sensing at long interrogation times. Using this method, we demonstrate a light-pulse atom interferometer for 87Rb with 1.4 cm peak wave packet separation and a duration of 2T=2.3 s. The inferred acceleration sensitivity of ...
متن کاملSqueezing on Momentum States for Atom Interferometry.
We propose and analyze a method that allows for the production of squeezed states of the atomic center-of-mass motion that can be injected into an atom interferometer. Our scheme employs dispersive probing in a ring resonator on a narrow transition in order to provide a collective measurement of the relative population of two momentum states. We show that this method is applicable to a Bragg di...
متن کاملA New Starting Point for Atom Interferometry
Interferometers using atoms rather than light can measure acceleration and rotation to high precision. Because atoms are slower than light, atom interferometers have the potential to reach greater inertial sensitivity than their optical counterparts. However, one of the main limitations in atomic interferometry has been discriminating the different contributions to the interference signal. Brig...
متن کاملAtom interferometry with up to 24-photon-momentum-transfer beam splitters.
We present up to 24-photon Bragg diffraction as a beam splitter in light-pulse atom interferometers to achieve the largest splitting in momentum space so far. Relative to the 2-photon processes used in the most sensitive present interferometers, these large momentum transfer beam splitters increase the phase shift 12-fold for Mach-Zehnder (MZ) and 144-fold for Ramsey-Bordé (RB) geometries. We a...
متن کاملUltra-high Sensitivity Accelerometers and Gyroscopes Using Neutral Atom Matter-wave Interferometry*
This paper shows that matter-wave interferometers employing low-velocity neutral atoms can be used as inertial sensors with sensitivities that exceed those of conventional mechanical sensors and multiple circuit optical interferometers by many powers of ten. The energy and mass dependence of the phase shifts that are due to rotation and acceleration are different. Thus a pair of interferometers...
